Overview

Mustard Seed Digital invited us to collaborate on the launch campaign for the new Volvo A40 model — a next-generation articulated hauler designed for productivity, comfort, and operator-focused innovation. Our role was to produce a comprehensive video series combining technical clarity with dynamic, modern visual storytelling to highlight the updated features of the machine for customer, dealer, and sales audiences.

The final campaign included four presenter-led videos and two cinematic beauty films, providing Volvo with a complete suite of assets for sales, product education, and brand positioning.

Goals

The creative direction and production strategy were shaped around Volvo’s key objectives:

30% – Launching the new A40 model

60% – Explaining updated features to customers (exterior, interior, performance, serviceability)

10% – Positioning Volvo as a more modern & innovative brand through style, pacing, and visual approach

Target Audience

• Equipment buyers & fleet owners

• Dealer networks

• Regional and global Volvo sales teams

These videos were designed as both sales enablement tools and product education assets, supporting customer understanding and internal training needs.

Challenges

Producing a high-quality launch video inside a real worksite environment required solving several constraints:

• The machine was not allowed to move, which meant all “dynamic” visuals had to be created purely through cinematography

Weather limitations created inconsistency in available light

Limited time window for filming due to operational restrictions at the site

Capturing a very large machine in tight physical space, requiring creative camera positioning, lens selection, and movement planning

Despite these challenges, we delivered a polished and energetic visual experience.

Creative Approach

The creative tone needed to balance two key directions:

• Technical & informative – ensuring every new feature of the A40 was explained clearly and accurately

Energetic & dynamic – presenting Volvo as a modern, forward-thinking brand with contemporary visual style

We achieved this through:

• Strong presenter-led explanations

• Smooth camera movement, low-angle sweeps, and cinematic lighting

• Hyper-detailed close-ups to highlight engineering and innovation

• Clear editorial pacing and onscreen emphasis on key features (without text overlays)

Production Execution

To address the constraints and maximize visual quality, our team:

• Used slider, gimbal, and controlled dolly movements to simulate motion around a stationary machine

• Planned shot sequences to take advantage of brief weather openings

• Designed beauty-shot walkthroughs for both exterior and interior to enhance visual dynamism

• Coordinated closely with Mustard Seed Digital to align creative direction, messaging, and technical accuracy

The result is a versatile video toolkit Volvo can use across sales, digital marketing, training, and presentations.
